Virginia Johnson
1922-2022
Henrico Christmas Mother is sad to note the passing of our beloved 1987 Christmas Mother Virginia “Ginny” Johnson on July 15. An active community member, dedicated church leader, accomplished professional, and cherished family member, Ms. Virginia brought leadership, warmth, and grace to our organization for more than 40 years and remained an active Council member through her 100th year! She will be sorely missed by all who were lucky enough to have known and worked with her.

MEET MARIA BAGLEY
2022 HENRICO CHRISTMAS MOTHER
Maria Vidal Bagley’s life-long commitment to community service is rooted in her desire to give back to the community which supported her family when they arrived in the United States as Cuban refugees in 1962, when Maria was just 6 months old.
Maria has lived in Henrico County since she was in second grade and graduated from Hermitage High School in 1980. She attended VCU and The Braxton School of Business. She works at NewMarket Corporation as the Corporate Executive Assistant to the CEO. She is also active in her church and volunteers with a number of community organizations.
Since 2014, Maria has used her Spanish language skills to help Henrico Christmas Mother’s Spanish-speaking clients navigate the application process.
When she does have some free time, Maria likes to sing, read, travel, take walks with her husband Sam and puppy Molly, and spend time with family and friends.

| Join us as we celebrate 80 years of neighbors helping neighbors!
From our beginning in 1942 when school teacher Mittie McCraw Nelson asked her students to bring canned goods to share with their neighbors in need, Henrico Christmas Mother has been committed to our mission to provide assistance in the form of food, new clothing, books and toys to qualifying families, seniors, and disabled adults during the holiday season.
Our volunteer Council Members work year round to ensure each program recipient enjoys a shopping experience characterized by choice and diginity.
